The Baldrige National Quality Program's (BNQP) official website is full of
resources. Visitors can find the Baldrige criteria (in PDF format), award
application forms, frequently asked questions, a calendar of deadlines and
training opportunities, contact information and BNQP history. The site also
includes profiles of Baldrige award recipients dating back to 1988, when the
first award was given.

This impressive site from New Zealand presents a library of case studies and
best practice examples pertaining to performance excellence. Included are
descriptions of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria,
worksheets for each of the 19 areas addressed in the Baldrige system, and
explanations of how to apply or do a self-assessment.

ISO, website is especially useful. It is a seven-page online brochure titled
"Selection and Use of the ISO 9000:2000 Standards." Pages include a guide to
all the standards in the ISO 9000 family, examples of the standards in use,
how to implement an ISO 9000:2000 quality management system, maintaining
benefits and continual improvements and the future evolution of ISO 9000.

This site represents the International Organization for Standardization,

The Product Support Initiative (PSI) is an effort launched by the
authors of the ISO 9001:2000 standard to measure user satisfaction, with the
goal of continually improving the standard. It revolves around an online
survey that every ISO 9001:2000 registered organization is encouraged to
fill out. Visit this site for information on PSI and a link to the survey.
Questions give the opportunity for feedback on which parts of the standard
are the most useful, which are the most difficult, the audit experience and
more.

This page provides some good introductory Six Sigma papers and project
examples as well as a glossary of common terms that a Six Sigma beginner may
find useful. There are also links and book recommendations. Another useful
tool, which is a little hard to find, is the complete Web version of the
Engineering Statistics Handbook, downloadable in PDF format. Click on Six
Sigma Resources Material, then Six Sigma Articles. Scroll down to the bottom
of the page to find the links to the handbook.

Adams Six Sigma uses a process it calls Six Sigma Plus, which, according to
its website, is "a planned use of strategy, total quality management and
leadership development." While Adams Six Sigma is a consulting practice, its
site offers several free resources, including discussion forums, a chat
room, a free e-mail newsletter and a newsletter archive. An especially
useful offering is its Six Sigma Plus training module, a free, 44-page PDF
download.

This portion of General Electric's website is a comprehensive, free resource
on Six Sigma. Written in everyday language, it diagrams the Six Sigma
process, outlines GE's evolution toward quality and ex-plains the key
elements of quality. The short quality glossary, which defines some general
terms as well as all the information on Six Sigma, is good for anyone new to
the quality industry. Users may also download a PDF document outlining the
site's main points.

The International Society of Six Sigma Professionals (ISSSP) offers training
on Six Sigma certification as well as courses and conferences on topics such
as managing a process portfolio, applying failure mode and effects analysis
to healthcare and leading change in your organization. All training is
organized by Six Sigma professionals. Some events meet in person around the
United States and some meet online. The website offers information and
online registration on all these events, which are open to members and
nonmembers.

This personal yet interesting site from Bob Gnibus delves into the theory of
quality as well as Six Sigma and has four links: Special Six Sigma Links,

are very helpful. Six Sigma brings you to a page with over 30 links dealing
with Six Sigma information and training sessions. Some of the sites include

Six Sigma IQ, a division of the International Quality and Productivity

Sigma Forum (SSF) has redesigned its website, packing the homepage with
several new features. A glossary of Six Sigma and quality terms and an
events calendar have been added for nonmembers. A channel devoted to Six

Remaining on the site are discussion boards, membership information and the
"find a member" function.

The American Statistical Association (ASA) promotes statistical practice,
education and research, publishes statistical journals and offers this
website for statisticians everywhere. Visitors can find, among other things,
links, articles, ASA calendars and a PowerPoint presentation on careers in
statistics. ASA members have access to additional online articles, a monthly
newsletter and discounts on meetings, courses and publications.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology offers a free Engineering
Statistics Handbook. The eight-chapter online handbook is intended to "help

enhancing their general knowledge of statistics or those needing a fast,
easy-to-use resource. The virtual textbook includes illustrations and offers
quick, easy and free unlimited access to training in the understanding and
application of statistics. The material is developed at the StatSoft R&D
department. A search under "quality" on the home page takes you to over 120
documents dealing with the theory of quality as well as charting and
statistical issues.
