The "Valley of the Sun" Section   is pleased to sponsor ASQ Certification review courses. The classes are scheduled to end a week before the examination is administered. In order to be considered for an ASQ examination, an application must be submitted to ASQ, including fees, prior to the application deadline date - generally two months prior to the examination date

Important Registration Notes:

  • Class Registration: The local section administers the signup and fees for the review class. We now accept Visa, Master Card & American Express along with company purchase orders. Checks are made payable to ASQ - Phoenix Section 0704. If a purchase order is granted, it should also read "ASQ - Phoenix Section 0704", as the recipient.
  • Registration details can be obtained by contacting the corresponding Instructors, Dennis DiPasqual, (azdipasqual@msn.com 480-650-3636).  

  • Please email the instructor, when you have submitted your Registration fees to the ASQ - Phoenix Section 0704.  The registration form can be found here.

  • Exam Registration: The National ASQ organization administers the signup and fees for the exam. Registration details can be obtained at their website http://www.asq.org/training/ or by phone at 800-248-1946
  • Registration fee for the CSSBB, CQE, CQSE, and CRE, is $625.00 with a class load of 5 participants in order to hold the class; ~14 weeks classes, 42 hours.
  • Registration fee for CQA, CQM, CQIA, and CQT, is $425.00 with a class load of 5 participants in order to hold the class; ~10 weeks classes, 30 hours.
  • Registration fees must be paid in advance in order to participate in a class (or on the 1st night of class with Instructor’s permission).  Early registration and payment is encouraged since class size is limited.  A 10% discount is offered for registrations received 30 days in advance; 5% discount for registrations received 15 days in advance. Full refund for unlikely event that class is cancelled; early withdrawals will result in a 5% processing fee. 
  • Class participants are responsible for purchasing the recommended textbooks in advance. These are the corresponding " Primer" and "Solution Text", both from the Quality Council of Indiana.
    Prices are approximately $70, plus ~$5 shipping & handling; and ~$35 plus, ~$5 shipping & handling respectively.

  • A limited number of textbooks may also be available for sale at the first class from the instructor.
  • The policy change regarding textbooks and increased registration has been made to hold classes with 5 participants, rather than with 8, the previous standard.

Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (CSSBB)

The Certified Six Sigma Black Belt is a professional who can explain Six Sigma philosophies and principles, including supporting systems and tools. The Black Belt should demonstrate team leadership, understand team dynamics, and assign team member roles and responsibilities. They have a thorough understanding of and can use all aspects of the DMAIC model in accordance with Six Sigma principles. They have basic knowledge of lean enterprise concepts, are able to identify non-value-added elements and activities, and are able to use specific tools.

Reliability Engineer Certification (CRE)

Designed for those who understand the principles of performance evaluation and prediction to improve product/systems safety, reliability, and maintainability.

Quality Engineer Certification (CQE)
Designed for those who understand the principles of product and service quality evaluation and control.

Software Quality Engineer Certification (CSQE)
Designed for those who have a comprehensive understanding of software quality development and implementation; have a thorough understanding of software inspection and testing, verification, and validation; and can implement software development and maintenance processes and methods.

Quality Auditor Certification (CQA)
Designed for those who understand the standards and principles of auditing and the auditing techniques of examining, questioning, evaluating, and reporting to determine quality systems adequacy.

Quality Manager Certification (CQM)
Designed for those who understand quality principles and standards in relation to organization and human resource management.

Quality Improvement Associate Certification (CQIA)
Designed to assess basic knowledge of quality tools and their uses by individuals who are involved in quality improvement projects, but do not necessarily come from traditional quality areas.

Quality Technician Certification (CQT)
Designed for those who can analyze quality problems, prepare inspection plans and instruction, select sampling plan applications, and apply fundamental statistical methods for process control

Harold has extensive experience in the quality arena as a TQM facilitator with Phoenix College and as a consultant. He has led service improvement teams that analyzed the delivery system, recommended solutions, evaluated results and made changes to continually improve the delivery systems. He has facilitated both CQIA and CQM refresher class for ASQ. He has been a member of ASQ local section in Denver and he is the Community Awareness Chair of the local ASQ Section. 


Dennis DiPasqual, CQM, CQE, CRE, CQA, CSSBB

"Valley of the Sun" Section -- Education Chair

30-year veteran of quality and productivity improvement programs, who helps clients define and implement elements for a more robust Quality Management System. Instructional experience includes numerous Quality, Quality Management, and Reliability Engineering sessions.

Mr. DiPasqual is a quality professional with extensive experience and strong customer focus for domestic and international markets in the areas of Communications, Computers, Aerospace, and Medical Electronics.  In addition to Quality Management, he has held Engineering positions in Quality, Reliability, and Manufacturing, as well as, Program Management.  Most recently prior to his consultant practice and joining Sensor Technologies and Systems Inc., he was head of Quality and Customer Satisfaction for a business unit of Motorola with annual sales exceeding $500 million.
